Mattel Hover Board – Holiday 2012 Release

Mattel Hover Board
Holiday 2012 Release

a0118453_19405381.jpg

For Back to the Future fanatics, what could be cooler than a pair of Nike Mags? How about the Mattel hoverboard from Back to the Future Part II that Marty uses to elude Biff and his crew of thugs? Mattel announced at Toy Fair 2012 in New York that it would release a 1:1 a “movie accurate” replica hoverboard that even includes the hole that was left when Marty ripped out the handlebar pole. While it won’t actually hover, it’s said to “glide” over most surfaces (but not water) while it makes various whooshing noises. Mattel is taking pre-orders from March 1st through March 20th, with delivery scheduled for November or December 2012, but there is a catch: because the hoverboard is such a high-cost item, the device won’t go into production unless a minimum number of orders is placed. Pricing is expected to be revealed later this month. via: SlashGear

Back to the Future II in LEGO

Back to the Future II in LEGO

a0118453_18303172.jpg

As part of an endeavor to depict Marty McFly's adventures entirely à la plastic brick, LEGO builder Alex Schranz has created an incredibly detailed diorama of Hill Valley from Back to The Future, Part II. Visit all of your favorite spots that will exist in three years, such as Cafe 80's and the cineplex that's screening Jaws 19.

This is but one of several of Schranz's retro LEGO projects — he's also given M.A.S.K. and The Masters of the Universe homemade playsets.

BMW M3 GT2 by Jeff Koons 1:18 Art Car Model

BMW M3 GT2 by Jeff Koons
1:18 Art Car Model

a0118453_1335407.jpg

For Jeff Koons, who became widely known for his balloon animals and monumental sculptures of flowers, three dimensional structures are nothing new. When he was asked to contribute a scale model of the BMW M3 GT2 he considered it a very special challenge, which is why he consulted with BMW head of design, Adrian van Hooydonk, on how best to model the air inlets and wings. The result of his work reflects power, movement, and light and makes viewers sing the praised of this 1:18 scale model. For those interested, this replica is available at BMW for $224 USD.
